Ranthambore National Park is the natural habitat located in the Rajasthan state in India. Along with its nearby sanctuaries like the Mansingh sanctuary and Kaila Devi sanctuary. The Ranthambore national park is 329 km.sq. in area. The park is famous for its tigers and one of the best locations to see the majestic predator in its natural habitat. The Park is home to a lot of other animals and species. The park contains 40 mammals, 320 birds, 40 reptiles, 50 butterflies and 300 plants.
Best Tourist Attractions
- Ranthambore Fort
The fort is within the Ranthambore national park near the town Sawai Madhopur. You can overlook the entire forest as the fort is at the hilltop. The Fort was built in 944 AD and thus, the fort encountered a lot of battles. It was also declared as the UNESCO world heritage site.
- Trinetra Ganesh Temple
The temple is at the entrance of the Ranthambore national park. It is the only Trinetra(three Eyes) Ganesha temple in the country and the only temple to have place lord Ganesha with his family.
- Bakula Region
The dense green forest of Ranthambore national park mostly lies in the Bakula Region. The region also features several waterholes, pools and wildlife. It is also the best place to capture the Royal Bengal Tiger in action.
- Kachida Valley
The valley is 19.2 km from Ranthambore Bagh. A wide range of flora and fauna is found in the valley. To avoid conflicts with the tigers the valley is occupied by leopards. Also, many large anthills, beehives and sloth bear can be spotted in the valley.
- Jogi Mahal
The Mahal is near the Padam Talab. The palace is a popular site for adventure seekers. This palace was a hunting lodge for the royal kings. After a tiring jungle safari, tourists can rest here and have food and water.
Jungle safaris
With the wide range of flora and fauna, especially the royal Bengal tiger the national park is a great tourist attraction for wildlife lovers. The best way to explore this majestic wildlife adventure is to go for a jungle safari. So, there are two options available i.e; Jeep safari and Canter safari.
Jeep Safari
The jeep safari tour is the best option for experiencing the jungle adventure. The jeep is an all side open 6-seater vehicle. It gives you the best viewing experience. As it is a smaller vehicle its easy to explore the core area without making much noise. Also, gives you a closer view of the wild animals. The safari is organized in two shifts a day and only 17 jeeps are allowed in each shift. It is the best option if you are visiting the park with your family or friends.
Canter Safari
Canter is a 20-seater bus for best viewing it is also all side open. It may not be as good as jeep safari but it is very economical to explore the jungle. It is hard to book a seat on jeep but it is easier to get a seat on canter. So it is also good if you want a single seat or it is best for is you are on a group tour. The canter safari is organised in two shifts with 20 canters in each shift.
How to Reach
By Air
Jaipur International Airport is the nearest airport about 160 km from the forest. For further distance, you can hire a taxi or bus available at the airport.
By Rail
Sawai Madhopur railway station is the nearest railway station about 11 km from the forest. The station is well connected through direct train from major cities like Jaipur, Delhi, Mumbai etc. From there you can hire a taxi or a cab to Ranthambore national park.
By Road
A direct road nearby the forest is connected to the city Jaipur, Udaipur, and Kota. You can get on your own vehicle or can go for state bus services from Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur.
