One of the main Mumbai hill stations and attraction of Mumbai is Khandala which is located on the road between the Deccan Plateau and the Konkan plains. The major road between Mumbai and Pune, Mumbai-Pune Expressway also passes through Khandala. It is also a popular weekend destination for people of both Mumbai and Pune. Tiger’s Leap also known as Tiger’s Point is a cliff-top with a sheer drop of over 650 m, giving an extensive view. Buses are available up to INS Shivaji and the remaining distance of about 1.6 km has to be covered on foot.

Lonavla is another Mumbai hill stations that is quite popular. It is located in Pune district and quite close to both Mumbai and Pune. It is famous across India for the hard candy sweet known as chikki. It is a great place to visit during the monsoon season as the hill station turns full of greenery during that season. The main places of interest here are Rajmachi Point, Ryewood Park & Shivaji Udyan, Valvan Dam, Lonavla Lake, I.N.S. Shivaji, Lohagad Fort, Lion’s Point, Shooting Point and Wax Museum.

One of the most beautiful tourist places nearby Mumbai is Matheran and it is a hill station in the   municipal council in Raigad district. It is famous for being the smallest hill station in India. Matheran is just 90 km from Mumbai and 120 km from Pune. This place does not allow any vehicles and this makes it extremely peaceful. The main attractions here include Panorama Point, Louisa Point, One Tree Hill Point, Hart Point, Monkey Point, Porcupine Point and Rambagh Point.
